Paper Space
CADD Standards • Version 1.0
When a drawing requires the use of Paper Space the following steps
could be followed:
Set current layer to "0".
Draw a rectangle (using the "RECTANGLE" command) around the area of your new view.
Type the command "VIEW", "Window", "VP1" (use different names when using multiple views i.e. VP1, VP2 etc.) select the lower left and upper right corners of the BOX.
Type the command "BLOCK", enter the same view name for the block (i.e. VP1 = VP1), select the lower left corner of the box for your insertion point. Select the "BOX".
Switch to Paper Space with the "TILEMODE" variable set to "0".
If you have not set SETUP the limits in Paper Space, do so now.
"INSERT" your VP blocks set scale to "1" and rotation "0".
Set the current layer to "V-PORT". If it does not exist, you will need to create it with a color of 15. If you are using a version of AutoCAD prior to 2000, set the viewport layer to defpoints. This will keep the edge in a "DON'T PLOT" state.
Type "MVIEW", select lower left corner of the VP block, then the upper right corner.
"ERASE" the VP block.
Type "MSPACE" or select the "P" button in the tool bar.
Type "VIEW", "Restore" and the view name.
Type "PSPACE" or select the "P" button in the tool bar.
