The Project Manager shall be responsible for requesting prototype or as-built drawings from out-of-office sources. Verify the type of file being received (i.e. AutoCAD r13, Intergraph, etc.), any third party software utilized by the source (i.e. ASG, DCA) and the form in which it will be sent to your office (i.e. dwg, dxf, zip, etc.). The preferred form of drawing files is in AutoCAD format (dwg) but dxf files can be handled. Project Managers should be aware that it would be necessary to convert these files to work-ready AutoCAD files defined by these standards. The preferred way to receive files is by modem/internet (refer to section "User Responsibility") but any disk media such as 3-1/2" floppy disk or CD-ROM is acceptable.
